GLL wins the best Social Enterprise Award at UK Business Awards 2017
GLL has won the award for best Social Enterprise at the UK Business Awards 2017, held on Wednesday, 22nd November at Wembley Stadium in London.
Created to recognise and celebrate the delivery of exceptional customer service, the awards event is a platform for sharing best practice and promoting continuous improvement, learning, and personal development. The awards are proud to have Customer Experience Magazine as media partner.
GLL was nominated for its pioneering use of the DataHub’s Social Value Calculator to accurately demonstrate the improvements to health, wellbeing, education, employment and community safety which its social enterprise delivers at neighbourhood level.
GLL returned over £350m in measurable social value to UK communities in 2016/17.
The judges were particularly impressed with GLL’s use of the Social Value Calculator at ‘postcode level’ to help target inequalities and improve lives.
The winners of the awards were selected by a panel of independent judges made up of business professionals from across the UK.
GLL MD Mark Sesnan said: “These awards are recognition of the ‘value added’ our social enterprise brings to communities up and down the country.
“We exist to get more people, more active, more often and in doing so transform lives.
“As we approach our 25 years in the industry, the UK Business Awards are a great way to celebrate with our customers and staff.”
Congratulating the winners, Lindsay Hunter, Event Manager for Awards International, said: “We are truly inspired by all the talent showcased at the UK Business Awards.
“We have seen many outstanding examples of businesses which are breaking the mold and changing their industry landscapes. This amazing event gave us the opportunity to acknowledge those companies and celebrate with both the finalists and the winners.”
